This course outlines the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. Applicable to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting. This course meets the regulatory requirements as stipulated by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
1 Day program, 8 hours face to face
(Participants are required to attend 100% of the training and successfully complete all assessments).

HLTAID004 – Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting
Qualification valid for three (3) years from date of issue. You are required to undertake annual CPR refresher training. A4 Colour Certificate (PDF) emailed following training.
It is recommended that participants have sufficient English language and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the first aid training. Clients must be physically fit in order to complete practical assessment tasks. At a minimum level, clients must have the ability to kneel on the floor to demonstrate CPR on a manikin for a period of 2 minutes. Clients with poor mobility, current injury or illness that may prevent this, please discuss with us prior to booking. Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian. This form can be found by selecting here.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements
Participants will require suitable LLN skills to complete the following tasks/skills:
- Read information from a PowerPoint and whiteboard
- Listen and understand verbal information delivered by an English- speaking trainer
- Complete written incident reports forms in English
- Read and answer a multiple- choice question paper
- Read and answer a short, written answer test
- Listen to instructions of an Automated External Defibrillator where prompts are delivered in English
- Be able to count to 30
